Special Services
In addition to our regular service every Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Valley of Peace holds additional services during the seasons of Advent and Lent.
Advent*
Advent celebrates the coming of Jesus into the world. It is a season of expectation more profound than the secular arrival of Santa Claus. Advent services are held on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. beginning after Thanksgiving and ending on Christmas. These services are normally preceded by a fellowship meal.
Christmas Eve*
We celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ on Christmas Eve with a traditional service of carols and candlelight. Watch the calendar for the exact time. This family-friendly service is usually held in the late afternoon of Christmas Eve.
Lent
Lent marks the forty days leading up to Christ’s crucifixion beginning on Ash Wednesday (at Valley of Peace, Ash Thursday). The Lenten Season is a time of prayer and fasting. Lenten Services are held each Thursday at 7 PM.
Maundy Thursday
Maundy Thursday is the evening that Christ celebrated the Jewish Passover with his disciples. We have a tradition at Valley of Peace of celebrating a Seder Meal, comparing the traditional Passover with the Last Supper. The service will be April 1st at 7:00 PM. The service will be either in person or on Facebook Live. You may watch the “Christ in the Passover” video by clicking here.
Good Friday
Good Friday, the day Jesus died, is celebrated with a somber special service. On Friday, April 15th at 7:00 pm a Tre Ore service will be held. This is a service that focuses on the three hours of Jesus’ passion while on the cross. The service will be composed of prayers and meditations on the Seven Words of Jesus as he hung on the cross. The service is available in person and on Facebook Live.
Easter Sunday
Our Easter Service is celebrated at the regular 10 AM time. There is no 9 AM Bible Study. This service is available in person and on Facebook Live. A pot luck luncheon will follow the service at 11:30 AM. Bring a dish to share.
