Subject: Departure of Youth and Family Ministries Director
The ‘shelter in place’ order, canceling of all public events and Sun Valley closing the ski hills all hastened the departure of Youth and Family Ministries Director, Lisa Menschel. In addition, Valley of Peace Lutheran Church canceled all public worship services in response to Governor Brad Littles order for Blaine County to ‘shelter in place.’ Lisa gave notice that she, her husband Drew and son Cutler would be moving back to Michigan.
Lisa had originally planned to work with Valley of Peace until the fall of 2020. After Drew’s work at Sun Valley ended due to the corona virus, the family decided to move up their return to Michigan. They departed this week.
Pastor Jerry Reinke said, “Lisa really got our youth energized in the short time she was here.” The list of accomplishments includes: creating an early childhood area in the kitchen, converting a large classroom into a youth room, organizing youth activities, and equipping members to minister to youth and families. Reinke added, “her energy and enthusiasm was contagious and much appreciated.”
